Overview: We at Colonial Countertops are seeking a skilled Cabinetmaker to join our team in Victoria, BC. The ideal candidate will have some experience in woodworking, furniture finishing, and a keen eye for detail. As an apprentice, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and aesthetic appeal of our finished products. Cabinetmaker (NOC 72311) Vacancies: 1 Location: 609 Alpha St, Victoria, BC V8Z 1B5 Salary: $36.50 hourly / 40 hours per week Terms of Employment: Permanent employment, Full time Start Date: Starts as soon as possible Languages: English Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience: 3 to 5 years Responsibilities: • Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components for cabinets • Prepare specifications of custom-made cabinets that maximize storage • Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files. • Instruct apprentices • Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made • Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints • Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics • Apply varnish, veneer, stain or polish to finished products • Maintain clean and safe work environment • Estimate costs and materials Experience and specialization • Cabinets • Millwork • Kitchen cabinets and vanities Additional information Transportation/travel information • Own transportation • Valid driver's licence Work conditions and physical capabilities • Fast-paced environment • Manual dexterity • Attention to detail • Standing for extended periods • Weight handling • Up to 23 kg (50 lbs) Personal suitability • Accurate • Efficient interpersonal skills • Organized • Team player • Punctuality Benefits • Health benefits • Health care plan • Vacation: 6% If you are a motivated individual with a passion for woodworking and furniture finishing, we encourage you to apply.
