Fruits or works of the flesh! All verses come from the KJV Bible. Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, [Works of the flesh are real easy to see]. Galatians 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Galatians 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. What do some of these words mean? Use a Strong's Concordance to check out definitions for yourself. witchcraft = the use or the administering of illegal drugs; poisoning; sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it; metaphorically: the deceptions and seductions of idolatry. [this is not referring to medicine/drugs legally prescribed by a medical professional]. hatred = enmity, cause of enmity, hostility; by implication: a reason for opposition. variance = contention, strife, wrangling. emulations = the fierceness of indignation, punitive zeal. [Could punitive zeal be the same as wanting to punish someone or deny them of something]? Have you witnessed any hatred or punitive zeal lately? Watch the daily news on TV someday soon and you'll witness it. Do the above definitions apply to one person only or can it apply to a group of people? Could this be the cause for so much division among groups of people today and in the past? Something to meditate and pray to God on. He will give us wisdom, if we ask Him to. See James 1:5. Become a fruit inspector, try to see what actually motivates people to say and do the things that they do. Try to peel back the layers of the onion, so to speak; get to the root causes of a problem or situation. Example: Abortion. In my opinion, abortion is just a symptom of much deeper problems within our society. The reason I say that is when I look at certain statistics on abortion, those statistics point me to much deeper problems. Please research this for yourself, (largest age group of women who abort, most given reason for seeking abortion, neighborhoods in which most abortion clinics are located, etc., etc.) The statistics on abortion are very revealing, that is why I suggest peeling back the layers of the onion; get to the heart of the matter. Also, abortion is forgivable if one seeks that forgiveness in truth. See Psalm 145:18.  | |
