National Maritime Day, celebrated every year on 5th April across India including Gujarat, places special emphasis on the important role of the youth in sustainable development, innovation and economic progress in India's maritime sector. This day is of utmost importance for India's maritime community. In the year 1919, SS Loyalty, operated by 'The Scindia Steam Navigation Company Limited', became the first ship of India, which played an important role in eliminating British dominance in maritime trade by making a historic journey from Mumbai to London. After that, India laid a strong foundation for self-reliance in the maritime sector.  | |
