Writing a good Resume is not about making it look beautiful to the eye, you have to firstly ensure that the ATS used by majority of the companies parses your resume so that it lands in front of the HR that looks into it.
Ideally a Resume should be about 2 pages length but if you have a tone of job related experiences and qualifications then it could add up more pages.

There are fundamental sections you need have in your Resume which includes:
1. A Profile section that contains your name, Job title(kind of what you call yourself), email, phone and city and state(country) of residence. A linkedin profile url or a website portfolio url is an added advantage.
2. A personal statement/ statement of purpose / profile summary : This should be about 155–200 words write up(2–4 sentences).
3. Previous work experience section.
4. Skills section that includes both the soft skills i.e personal attributes(e.g Time management) and the hardskills i.e measurable abilities(e.g Corel Draw and photoshop expertise)
5. Education and Qualification section
6. Achievements section: The use of figures is highly encouraged to showcase what you have achieved in the past e.g. I contributed in the 25% increase in sales for xyz company in the year 2022.
Profile Section
7. Additional sections that shows
— languages you know( some companies have international offices)
— volunteering experience
— certificates
— awards
— Hobbies and interests( these can showcase your personality)

You may also note the following:
1. Adding date of birth or sex ( to avoid discrimination except expressly required by the advert)
2. Non- professional email addresses should be avoided e.g. (
3. Picture should not be included if you are in the USA/ UK / Ireland due to discrimination and labor laws. Other countries could have that.

4. when listing your work experience you want to list the following
— Your Job title / position
-Company name and location
— dates employed
— roles / achievements / responsibilities
5. when listing your Education:
— program Name
— University Name
— Years Attended
-(optional) Relevant Courses

Your cover letter must grab the attention of the hiring manager. Avoid these mistakes:

spelling or grammar error.
2. Avoid the temptation to lie or exaggerate(be honest)
3.Avoid using a fancy or creative font.
4. Don’t make it unnecessarily long 2–3 pages is ok
5. Not including your direct phone number on top of your resume or bottom of your cover letter.
6.Unexplained gaps in your employment history
7.Having one resume for all job applications.
8.Listing duties as opposed to listing achievements
9.Writing a boring personal statement(use powerful words appropriately).
10.Not using action verbs on your Resume(e.g. accomplished, evaluated, developed, communicated, trained, facilitated etc.)
