Type of Employment: Full Time – Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Description: Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials Identifying areas of weakness and fixing problems in damaged structures Ensuring finished structures are safe and can weather some damage Assist with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, load, unload and check deliveries and undertaking tasks to assisting carpenter generally Maintain accurate worksheets and records/documentation Perform work as directed by the supervisor Work with materials and hardware power tools Transport materials to different worksites Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools Fit and install trim items such as doors stairs moulding and hardware Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments Supervise apprentices and other constructions workers May prepare cost estimates for clients Requirements: Education: Completion of secondary school is required. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience is required. If the candidate does not have at least 2 years of experience, then a post-secondary education certificate is required. Work under different weather conditions Driver’s license type 5 is required Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Overtime required, Physically demanding, Tight deadlines, Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Repetitive tasks, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods Personal Suitability: Accurate, Efficient interpersonal skills, Judgement, Team player, Initiative, Organized Work site environment: Noisy, Dusty, Outdoors, Heights Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Transportation between work locations provided by employer. Important information: The regular schedule will be from Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
