Hello Canadian Animal lovers! Updates and Info from Tamara Chaney's Team about "Stop Animal Cruelty Petition" (initiated by Daisy-Duke's horrific death in Didsbury, AB, to prevent from happening to other animals!), supporting Bill C-373, being presented to House of Commons. We've gained huge support with MP's and Animal Services, but we still need to let all Public know about these legitimate ways to Help Stop Animal Cruelty in Canada! First off, Please note that Tamara's Petition Date has been extended until Dec.31! We feel it's in the best interest of this cause to reach more Canadians, so they may have the opportunity to voice their opinion's if they desire! All the Petition Info/Updates/Links/Views can now be seen on Tamara's Group/Space at http://groups.msn.com/StopAnimalCrueltyBillC373 ! This was recently initiated in hopes that we can get to know Petition holders, they can list locations, and we can get an idea where may still be needed! We can also Answer questions and get Updates to all supporters fast! Discuss issues with others, get opinions, share views! Hope you'll support this method to get more organized and make you a closer part of the Team! Please join us in our mission to Stop Animal Cruelty by supporting Bill C-373 and have your Petition Location listed! It's time to tell the Gov't you want Bill C-373 re-introduced as a Goverment Legislation to protect animals and give them a voice! 2. Download, print, sign, - Tamara Chaney's "Stop Animal Cruelty Petition" found at www.noka.org and return to her by Dec. 31, to be presented to House of Commons by MP Myron Thompson www.myronthompson.com/ . MP's are counting on alot of signature support on this Petition! 3. Miles Albrecht's Online Petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/Midnite1/petition.html also supporting Bill C-373, will be printed and submitted by MP Mark Holland http://markholland.ca/ to House of Commons for support. Note: Many petitions circulating, will unfortunately not be recognized as legal. As they do not contain Bill #'s, addresses or are missing other important information. They can be presented to any Member of Parliament in show of support, however, they cannot be physically presented to the House of Commons as they cannot be verified as all required info must be present. Also note that duplicate signatures result in one being rejected and you must be 16 to sign! These two Petitions are in support of Bill C-373 , to toughen fines, etc. without hurting those in animal industry. We want everyone to be aware that there are many other Petitions To Stop Animal Abuse and Cruelty, but some are in support of Bill S-213 which doesn't protect all animals, and many believe could have negative effects on animal industries. Please be sure you educate yourself on differences of Bills, clarified further at http://cfhs.ca/law/federal_legislation/ before signing! Also, the cost to run a country-wide petition apparently exceeds more than Tamara expected! If anyone would like to help, donations can be made to ANY Royal Bank of Canada. You will need the: Transit # 03529 and Account # 5035043, in order to make a financial donation. Donations are completely separate from Tamara's personal account, which can be confirmed at any Royal Bank of Canada! Remainder of donations, after Petition costs, will be transferred to the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies! Please feel free to support this cause in any way you can! Let's start protecting our animals without hurting industry sectors or environment! There has been no significant change to the Animal Cruelty Act since 1892! | Thank you to everyone who signed Tamara Chaney's Stop Animal Cruelty Petition supporting Bill C-373! 111,896 signatures of support were presented by MP Myron Thompson to the House of Commons on Feb 19! A brief statement was made, in which Myron asked (on our behalf) that current laws to animal welfare be updated. He also asked that it would be called "Daisy-Duke's" Petition, in memory of the pup that was killed in his riding, resulting in Tamara initiating this petition! All of us from Tamara's Petition Team sincerely appreciate everyone who got involved! | Here's an exciting update for our fellow animal lovers! Stop Animal Cruelty Petition supporting Bill C-373 has been prepared by Clerk's Office and is ready for submission! (No word on final # yet, was 111,000+ guess it's a surprise!?) MP Myron Thompson will be presenting it to the House of Commons with a statement, on Mon. Feb 19, after 3 PM (EST)! Watch on cpac or a statement will also appear in "Hansard", the official record of debates. From there it goes to the Gov't, which has 45 days to table a response. Everyone cross your fingers, write last minute emails, pray, and hope that we'll finally have a resolution to this century old debate! | Hi everyone! Just wanted to give you the exciting update! Tamara has counted 45,354 admissable sig's so far! Thanx to all for such an overwhelming early start! Those with completed Petition sheets already, (that don't mind paying postage twice!) Please feel free to start sending them in anytime!
